First victory for Saudi Arabia

CHILE – SAUDI ARABIA 25-29 (11-13)

Saudi Arabia took the first win at the final day of preliminary round matches at the 2019 IHF Men’s Youth World Championship. They won versus Chile 29-25. Though they had lost all their prior matches, Saudi Arabia have shown some good handball in Skopje and deserved this win.

Keeping Chile to 11 goals in the first half, Saudi Arabia were in control with an advantage all the match. At the end, they earned their first two points and got the fifth place in Group A.

Hamdi Mohammed Aboobaid scored 7 goals for Saudi Arabia. In Chile team, Matias Paya was perfect, 7 goals from 7 attempts.

We were in good mood just at the start of the match. After that, we made a mistakes in the attack and Saudi Arabia knew how to punish us. We did not get victory in the group stage of the tournament.

We are delighted. Players are happy, we got first victory and we deserved that. We played very hard in the defense, made some easy goals and broke the rival at the end.
